OUR MINISTRIES

Part of the purpose of Rush Creek Friends church is influence and encourage our community, one life at a time. To do that we must constantly strive to be the kind of church described in the Bible - a church with relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest relationships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. That is where our ministries come in. Each of the ministries below stems from one of these characteristics of the type of church we want to be.

Sunday Morning Fellowship
Coffee & Donuts >>

Before our morning service begins at 10:30 a.m., many members and visitors gather to spend time together in fellowship - while enjoying the free coffee and donuts provided.

<< Sunday Morning Worship

Come join us for our Sunday morning services starting at 10:30 am. We have a time of worship and a message from our pastor. This is our opportunity to lead the community in heart-felt worship and relevant teaching, but it is also a time to show love and support to each other as community members.

Kids Club - Jr. Church >>

Kids can attend Jr. Church during the Sunday morning service. After the worship time (about 11 am), the kids are dismissed to a classroom for their own time of worship and a lesson - as well as snacks, games, and crafts. [There is also a nursery room available for young parents and children if needed.]

<< Wednesday Evening
Bible Study & Dinner

We have Bible Study on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. right now. We start off with a pitch-in dinner (menu usually decided after church on the Sunday before), then dive into the Word together. Come join us during this time of fellowship. Feel free to visit without bringing food - there's always plenty to go around. During the winter months, we do take some Wednesdays off.

<< Youth Group

We are currently working to build our Youth Group and begin having meetings again. In the past we have had meetings on Saturdays or Sunday evenings about twice a month. Meetings consist of a lesson, dinner, and games (and lots of laughter!). We also have outings such as bowling, laser tagging, state park hiking, among others. We look forward to this re-build and helping our community's kids grow in their relationship with Christ.

<< Kids & Sports Ministries

Every summer we have our week-long Vacation Bible School in the summer for kids aged 3 to 8th grade! Each year we explore a different theme, while spreading God's love to His children and helping kids learn about Jesus Christ's sacrifice.

We've also been exploring opportunities to use our full-size basketball court. In the summer of 2019 we held our first kids basketball camp. And we look forward to many more basketball camps and other opportunities to use our court, located in our Worship Center.

MUSIC

The Rush Creek Praise & Worship Band has had the opportunity to lead worship at many community-wide events throughout the years: Covered Bridge Festival Concert, Easter at the Ritz, and Rush Creek at the Fair are just a few examples. You can find out more about the dates of future events on our Events page. It is always so exciting to get out into the community and proclaim the Gospel. The Rush Creek Worship Center's pastor, Doug Newnum, has been the lead vocalist of the S.O.S. Renewal band for many year's. S.O.S. Renewal has travelled with evangelist Rev. Gary Wright of World Renewal International and led worship at many churches in the United States, and even travelled worldwide to lead worship during missions trips.

Rush Creek Friends Church has the privelege to support the following missions financially and spiritually.

WORLD RENEWAL INTERNATIONAL

World Renewal International (WRI) is an independent organization passionate about fulfilling the Great Commission in their world-wide ministry. Their desire is to develop leaders and communities around the world filled with the Holy Spirit and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They have established churches, missionaries, and ministries in Brazil, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Mexico, India, the Middle East, countries of Africa, amoung others. Rev. Gary Wright (Rush Creek Friends Church Pastor Emeritis) is the founder and president of the organization. WRI was founded in 1986 by Gary and Carol Wright. Rush Creek specifically helps financially support two of WRI's missionaries. Click here to visit the WRI website.

RAFIKI FOUNDATION

" 'Rafiki' means friend in Swahili and depicts the purpose of the Foundation—to befriend orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27). The mission of The Rafiki Foundation is to help Africans know God and raise their standard of living with excellence and integrity." Rush Creek helps fund one specific missionary, Julie McKeighen (pictured to the left). Julie is the sister of Pastor Doug Newnum and is serving in the Rafiki Village in Liberia that serves as an orphanage and a school. Click here to visit the Rafiki Foundation website homepage. Ministries We Support

RCFC Building Project - Ministry Opportunities

We are so excited to have our building project finished. The construction process began in the late spring of 2015. We now have a full size basketball court, brand new kitchen, larger upstairs restrooms, and children's nursery. The Jr. Church is now held in our original sanctuary, giving the kids a large space for all of their activities. We are looking forward to these new additions allowing us to offer more ministry opportunities in our community.
